Why Breathwork Belongs at Framework

The power of hot and cold starts with the breath. Join us this May for Detox House Breathwork at Framework—designed to help you regulate, recover, and reconnect with yourself.

Before the heat. Before the cold. There’s the breath.

It’s the first thing we ask you to notice before a plunge, and the last thing you feel as you leave the sauna—an anchor, a reset, a guide.

This May, we’re deepening our focus on the breath. Together with Aleks of Detox House, we’re introducing a weekly breathwork series designed to help you regulate and recover from the inside out. Whether you’re breath-curious, plunge-practiced, or somewhere in between, this is your invitation to get familiar with your most powerful built-in tool for nervous system health.

Because breathwork doesn’t just help you in the plunge. It helps you in life—stress, sleep, performance, and resilience all start with how you breathe.

What is breathwork?

At its simplest, breathwork is the practice of intentionally altering your breathing pattern to influence your mental, emotional, and physical state.

Sometimes it’s subtle. Sometimes it’s psychedelic. But whether you’re looking to calm anxiety, sharpen focus, process emotion, or push your physical limits, breath is the bridge.

Research shows that breathwork activates the vagus nerve and helps shift your nervous system out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest. It can lower cortisol, improve HRV, boost energy, and build CO₂ tolerance. It’s a practice used by elite athletes, trauma therapists, and longevity researchers alike—for good reason.

Why does breathwork belong at Framework?

We’re all about contrast here—hot and cold, stillness and movement, effort and ease. Breathwork belongs because it bridges those contrasts. It helps you make sense of what’s happening inside your body when everything outside is changing fast. It’s the silent partner in every successful plunge and the key to making the most of your recovery.

Think of this not as a departure from our core practices, but a deepening—like our TERSA SAVA Sound Pods. Breathwork adds another layer to the Framework experience, helping you regulate in real-time and re-enter the world with more clarity and control.

I’ve personally had a 180 on this. When I started, I thought it was kinda ‘woo-woo.’ But now? I fully believe it’s the key to cold plunging—and I’ve noticed how much I can control my body and brain through breath outside the plunge as well.

Introducing Detox House Breathwork: Regulate + Recover

Starting May 8, Aleks of Detox House will guide a weekly 45-minute class at Framework focused on nervous system training through breath.

This isn’t just breathwork—it’s cellular-level recovery. You’ll be guided through conscious connected breathing and strategic breath holds, designed to improve oxygen efficiency, CO₂ tolerance, and mental resilience. These are the same breath protocols used by pro athletes and peak performance experts. Expect shifts in both your physiology and your psychology.

Breathwork isn’t just about controlling your breath—it’s about regulating your entire experience of life. When you train your nervous system, you expand your capacity for stress, for joy, for everything. That’s what Detox House is here to help you access.
